Riders Knowledge Test · Last updated 30 October 2026

This policy explains what the Riders Knowledge Test app (“the app”, “we”, “us”) collects, why we collect it and the choices you have. The app is made by Dara Digital Pty Ltd.

Summary

  • You don’t need an account, and we never ask for your name, email address, phone number or location.
  • We collect anonymous usage data, such as which practice modes you use and how you score, to understand how the app is used and improve it. We use PostHog for this.
  • We use Superwall to show the upgrade screen and manage purchases. Payments are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card or payment details.
  • We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites, we don’t use the advertising identifier (IDFA), and we don’t sell your data.
  • The App Clip collects nothing and sends no data.

Information we collect

1. App usage (analytics)

When you use the full app, we record events about how you use it, such as:

  • starting, completing or leaving a practice round, and the mode and category you chose
  • answering a question: the question’s ID, its category and whether your answer was correct
  • your exam result: the number of correct answers, the score and whether you passed
  • saving or removing a saved question
  • opening features and switching tabs
  • the state or territory you selected
  • the app being installed, opened, updated or moved to the background

Each event also includes standard technical information about your device and the app: device model, operating system and version, app version and build, language and region settings, time zone and screen size.

To group events from the same installation, the app creates a random anonymous identifier and stores it on your device. It isn’t linked to your name, Apple ID or any other personal information. Deleting the app removes it, and reinstalling the app creates a new one.

Our analytics provider may use your IP address when the data is received, for example to estimate an approximate country or city. We don’t use it to identify you.

2. Upgrade screen and purchases

When you open a premium feature without premium access, the app may show an upgrade screen. To show it and to work out whether you have premium access, the app shares information with Superwall, including:

  • the upgrade screens shown to you and whether you closed them or bought something
  • the product you chose (for example, the lifetime unlock or the weekly plan) and the outcome of the purchase or restore
  • purchase and subscription status from Apple’s StoreKit, such as transaction identifiers, product identifiers, purchase dates and expiry dates
  • technical device and app information (device model, operating system, app version, language, region, time zone) and a device identifier that is specific to this app

We also send these upgrade screen and purchase events (the screen shown, the product ID and the outcome) to our analytics provider. This lets us see how upgrades relate to app usage.

Payments. All purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We and our service providers never receive your name, Apple ID, card number or billing address. To manage or cancel a subscription, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device. Apple’s handling of your payment information is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

3. Data that stays on your device

Your progress, saved questions, mistakes and selected state are stored only on your device. We don’t upload this data, although some of the related events in section 1 are recorded.

What we don’t collect

We don’t collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, health data or advertising identifier (IDFA). We don’t use cookies or tracking pixels, and we don’t track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • understand which features are used and how people learn, so we can improve questions, explanations and practice modes
  • decide which features to offer for free and which as premium, and test different upgrade screens
  • provide premium access, process restores and keep your subscription status correct
  • find and fix problems in the app

We don’t use your data for advertising, and we don’t sell or rent it to anyone.

Service providers

These providers process data on our behalf:

These providers may store and process data outside Australia, including in the United States.

Data retention

We keep analytics and purchase-related data only as long as we need it for the purposes above. After that, we delete it or reduce it to aggregate statistics that can’t be linked to an installation. Data stored on your device stays there until you delete the app.

Your choices and rights

  • Stop data collection: uninstall the app. The App Clip never sends data, so you can use it instead.
  • Reset your identifier: delete and reinstall the app. Your previous usage data will no longer be connected to the new installation.
  • Access or deletion requests: we don’t hold your name or contact details, so we usually can’t match data to you. If you’d like us to try, or you have another privacy request, contact us and we’ll help where we can.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under the GDPR or similar laws to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to object to its use. Contact us to use them. You can also complain to your local privacy regulator, such as the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Children’s privacy

The app helps learner riders prepare for their knowledge test and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security

We use reputable service providers, and data is sent to them over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we handle.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add or change a service provider. When we do, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be announced in the app or its App Store release notes.
